This week ... though I don't like chains.. we tried the special going on at Friday's

Where you get one choice appetizer, one choice entree.. two sides and a choice of three desserts for one price...

We both had the fried green beans, and they were not as good as Razoo's fried green beans.

I had the seasoned steak, and whatever they season it with is strong and pungent. Though the steak was tender and juicy, the seasoning overpowered it.

The fried shrimp was ok, but just average.

The chocolate Oreo cake was delightful.

The tea (and coffee) was weak....

Not a place I'd regularly visit....

It kind of sounds like my experience with a similar deal they had going on at On the Border.

Ric, if you and Rita want to try a cool place with some TCU atmosphere, come on over to Fuzzy's Taco Shop on West Berry and University. It's a typical student hang out, however the Mexican food is pretty good. There is one small caveat...the parking sucks. You'll have to do the going early (before 6:00 PM) just to find a place. You can park behind the 7-11. There's an small lot there.

Edit to add:  We don't do chains.  There are way too many locally owned places that need our support.

The only chains we really do are Bennigan's and sometimes Boston Market.

I like Joe's on Matlock in Arlington for Italian food.

Not the same owner, possibly same family.  He had several family members open up places, but he is not involved with the others.

Joe's in Arlington has super people.  When Eddie was growing up, every time we walked in, by the time we got to the table, the waitress was there with a bowl of black olives.

That's cool.
The Napoli's in Garland, Eddie's, we went there before the boy was born. We do not get around there much, since we do not live close. Thne food is great though.

Ate Sweet and Sour Shrimp from the Golden Dragon last night.

It is in Irving, across the street in the opposite direction of Angelo's.

I ordered it, and then found out their prices went up on everything.  The taste was nothing special.  Probably the last time I order anything from them besides egg rolls.

Stemyn, try Empress Jr. over in Plymouth Park behind the old Taco Bell. Their Chinese is MUCH better than Golden Dragon. If you like hamburgers, Burger Island on Story between 183 and Rochelle is great. They also have other types of sandwiches and a few salads.

Juans has been closed by the Health Dept twice......

You're right. Pei Wei is the scaled down version of PF Chang's.
