oh, I Janet Evanovitch....makes me lol.
I'll go from an intense thriller to her and back to blood and gore!

I like humor, too, but more or less in the form of Fanny Flagg.  :)

It is worth buying pretty much ONLY in the sense that it's part of series and you might be more than a little lost without reading it.  To me it seemed kind of circular, frustrating, repetitious - and more disgustingly detailed descriptions than even I need.  Buy it used and skim it if you don't want to read the whole thing.  That's my advice, for what it's worth. :)

Thanks. I'll wait until it's a cent on Amazon. She does "do" the description, doesn't she????

Saw her on Oprah discussing it.  Apparently, she was quite the little tart.  And I always thought she was the good girl.   I loved "One Day at a Time" in my late elementary school/Jr. High days...

She was basically the "good girl" ( especially when compared to Mackenzie Phillips ) with a strong, grounded family, who got caught up in some things she didn't realize the danger of at the time.

Went through all the insecurities every teenaged girl goes through, with the glare / pressures of Hollywood pushing her.

Very interesting read so far.

Love the Renoir work - a copy has hung on our wall for years.  Sounds like an interesting book.

Have been able to start reading again.....Hal lay loo ya.

The Brain That Changes Itself, by Dr. Norman Doige is remarkable. "The discovery of "neuroplasticity," that our thoughts can change the structure and function of our brains-even in old age- is the most important breakthrough in neuroscience in four centuries."

Having memory issues? Can't pull words in conversation like you used to?  This book talks about how we can exercise our brain to make it function again.

KERA has had a series on this. The CD is a copy of the series, the DVD has a series of exercises to help stimulate your brain.....the KERA website has the particulars.

That is really cool that she responded to you. I will check her out the next time I get to the library.

BTW, Ric, how is your back doing?

Glad to hear it! Wearing a brace beats the heck out of pain, notso? Back pain is the worst. Being free from that must be a tremendous blessing.
