You know, I can do without them too. Back in 2005 we got to Wrigley Field.... no scoreboard, no fireworks, and no loud music introducing the players. It was terrific!  Not that I don't enjoy seeing the batting averages of the players, etc., but Wrigley was pure baseball.

Enjoy your time in the home country....

I can see the good to both. The sights and sounds can be fun, but there is something nice about the abscence of it.

Ms. Chris just finished it and loved it as much as I did...

I just finished The Amber Room by Steve Berry...not near as good as The Venetian Betrayal...

I am actually reading a book right now. It is called I'll Do My Own Damn Killin' Benny Binion, Herbert Noble, and the Texas Gambling War. I am about a third of the way through it. It is a pretty interesting look at some of the history of Dallas, and some of the characters.

I'm reading Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett....it's a historical novel during the 12th century. It's about one man's dream to build a cathedral and all the other people that intertwine in his life. It tells of how hard life was at that time and all the trials and tribulations that occurred. There is some tough stuff but there is good stuff too. I can't put it down!

Careful Ric, remember I like Janet Evanovich as well..
Oh, yeah...... I forgot....

I just read #12, #13 and the two extras -- one for Valentine's day and one for Christmas.  Easy reads and just hysterical!  I laugh outloud!!

My bible study group is reading "Where is God When it Hurts?" by Philip Yancey. I've read five chapters and it's amazing how it completely changes the way you think about pain and suffering.  If you know anyone that suffers with chronic pain, you need to buy them a copy and then ask them to let you read it when they're done.

I'm just blown away by it already!

I'm so used to the "fast read" books like the Evanovitch books. This one takes awhile but it's good.  That evil William of Shiring is really pi**ing me off!!  I'm at the point where he's hired all the masons from Kingsbridge with Alfred.....grrrr.  And that kniving Bishop of his--those were some tough times.
