baylorgradsmom wrote: I'm reading a Ted Dekker book called "Black".  It was given to me as a hand-me-down from one sister.  She hated it.  I'm nearly finished and it's kept my attention thru it all!  It's the first of a series.  I noticed they sell it at Mardel (Christian store) too.

It's about a young man that has dreams that are so real that he can't tell which is the reality...his dreams or his real life.   His dreams tell him about a virus that will mutate into a virus that kills millions of people....then he has to convince the people in the other life of what he's dreamt and how real of a threat it is.  He's able to go back and forth between realities and use information from one as a guide in the other.  Very sci-fi.  Lots of references to a single "God" and creator in the "dream". Pretty insightful and foretelling stuff!

Had someone else recommend this trilogy last week....said Black was one of the best books he'd read.....'course, he was 20.

Will check at the library.

Read Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton today. If you have not read it, it is worth the time.

Broken Prey ....takes place in the Twin Cities, serial murderer, mental hospital, etc...don't want to give too much detail in case you have not read it.

Started a Clive Cussler book this morning...Atlantis Found.  Someone on here had suggested him also....pretty good so far. Thanks to the suggestee.

Have read each and every one of the Prey series.. waited for each of them to come out, and grabbed them immediately..

My favorite so far is Winter Prey..

I'm not a huge Cussler fan...

I have picked up the Sue Grafton Alphabet series once again though. She is at "T".. (A is for... , B is For... , etc...)

Have not read any of the Sue Grafton series....sister lives and breathes with her. She also is a big Patricia Cornwell fan....I have read 8-10.....I do not care for cutting and slicing. I buzz those parts.

Iris Johansen is better than Patricia, imho.. her books are riveting. Cornwell is all over the place.. and too hard to follow, for my taste....

Agree with you on Johansen vs. Cornwell. My favorite is still P.D. James and her Adam Dalgleigh series.

Have you read any of John LeCarre's books?  My favorites are the Karla series with George Smiley. They are outstanding.

I'm not much of a reader (can't sit that long), but I picked up The Purpose Driven Life today.

I'm not Kent, but I do not understand audio books. I would think something would be lost ion not reading it. I guess you could listen in the car, but that would not seem right to me.

I live in Grand Prairie. I worked for a company in Grand Prairie. When they opened an office in Richardson, they wanted me to go there. I told them I would not be interested. Long drive, lots of gas. They gave me company gas card, plus put a box of about 100 books on CD on the table. Said this should keep you busy. I loved it.
