I've thought about that.... how do they translate for those who have read the book and heard the audio version?  It would be like I was in greade school again when the teacher would read us a chapter a day.

No, not really... Many are read by TV actors, etc., and many are read by the authors.. and, typically, if the lead is a female, a female will be doing the reading... likewise ..male=male...

You picked a good one....

Ric,  Thanks for the suggestions on Tami Hoag....will get them next week one day.... read Congo today by Michael Crichton.....liked some of his others better, but it wasn't bad.

I have to agree with Gump on the audio books.....listened to several and had a difficult time....listened to A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson, who I like a lot, but it was a real beating.  He reads a lot better than he orates.

Ric, Picked up a few books at the library today....another John Sanford, my first Tami Hoag, and a couple biographies. The Sanford book is one of the "Prey" series.

I've always said that when you read Burke, you can smell the wet spanish moss on the trees, you can see the sun setting on the bayou.. you can feel the oyster shell driveway under your feet, and you can hear the rain on the tin roof of Robichaux's house. He is THAT good.

Yeah, Ric, and the insights he has...wow. He's someone I would really like to sit and listen to...Montana and the bayou...two totally different places to live. Wonder if he'll do anymore of the - what's his name? - the other series?

You mean the Billy Bob Holland series that takes place in Deaf Smith County, Texas, right?

I think there have been three novels.. and every one of them are so similar, that when reading one, I have always felt like I was re-reading a book.

I love his Dave Robichaux and Annie novels.. but find the 'other' series infinitely less interesting. Strange, coming from the same author, how different his styles are in the two series..

Sanford is a lot like that, too. I love the Lucas Davenport novels.. the Kidd books I can take or leave......

I don't like the Kidd books, either.
Love Daniel Silva. and Stephen White. and Douglas Preston/Lincold Child.

My fav Dave Robichaux is the Confederate Mist one...can't recall the entire title. I just reread it.

Oh, a good book by David Baldacci(Sp) is "Wish you well". like all his books but this one is pretty special.

In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead is one of my favorites, too... the one I'm reading now is Sunset Limited..
I like Baldacci, most of the time... sometimes he bogs down in details... but.. for the most part, a good read, and what more can you really ask from an author?

I'm reading a thriller called BONE DEEP by Darian North that is actually pretty good (several years old) and skimming BUSH ON THE COUCH - both given to me by Tequila Mockingbird.  I'm a slow reader -- fall asleep or get distracted about 20 min. in...

Bought my Dad a couple of Michael Connelly books -- do y'all like him?  They sounded good.  I would have bought him some of the Sandford PREY books but he has to pick them out himself because he doesn't remember for sure which ones he's read.  He loves the humor...
