Always an excellent idea when I can't figure out what I want !!  Made especially easy now with my recently purchased panini grill.

One of my favorite quick meals.  Since the GB surgery, I can eat half a grilled cheese.  I like to use different breads like rye or sourdough, maybe add a slice of ham and try different cheeses, too - even mozzarella is a good choice.

Typing up old recipes for the Militia Cookbook thread prompted tonight's 70's inspired dinner:  Tangy Chicken - a delectable combination of butter browned chicken leg quarters (70's style electric skillet required), 1/2 cup Heinz 57 and 1/2 cup water (upped it to 3/4 cup for tonight).  Accompaniments - wild rice and a broccoli/cauliflower/red pepper/carrots veggie mix.  Haven't made this stuff in probably 10 years but it smells and tastes delicious.

What's the cook time, and can you substitute other stuff for the Hienz 57?

I'm sure it doesn't have to be done in an electric skillet - I was joking - but that's how my Mom did it ... and since we don't put ours to much use, I drug it out of the cabinet.  Brown the chicken on both sides and then simmer in sauce for about 45 min., basting frequently - that should do it.  It went over well tonight.

I'm sure any sauce you'd like to try would work fine.  Heinz 57 has a different taste, though, and actually works very well.  If you're going to dilute the sauce with water, make sure it's a fairly potent sauce!
