I'd love to help too....this is the first year in 22 yrs that I haven't had to help get a kid ready for school!!  weird, weird, weird.

She'll remember you always, Texie, for just giving her something all her own and not something she "needed".  That's terrific!

She's doing great!  I thought I'd start to gear up for school for her.  I thought about a gift card to Wal-Mart so she could buy her a pair of jeans and a gas card to at least get her to Denton.  I'm going to ask her about her scholarship situation.

I had once thought about asking her about her laptop situation but I figured that might be going a little far; heck, I want a laptop!

Well, guys and gals...I may have overwhelmed my "needy college student".  Over thw weekend I was at Dillard's and they had a phenomenal sale throughout the store.  I found some cheap yet name brand towels (Ralph Lauren) in the colors that she really likes.  I didn't pay much, honestly.  I gave them to her on Monday and she freaked out.  Yesterday she tells me that I am not to buy her anymore stuff and that a good luck wish is all she wanted.  She was a little testy with me and I wondered if she didn't get in trouble with her family or got hasseled by her co-workers because I gave her towels.  You just don't know what goes through people's heads when they're presented with a gift.  I'm doing it for nothing more than knowing she's got some things to get started with.

Sounds like she has some pride which is a great thing. Especially with the mom she has.  It would be easy for her to allow everyone to take care of her.

She's got some spunk.. You still did good Trixie.
