I was innocently ( and apparently not cleverly ) commenting on Bubba's pretending to answer for Zephyr with what I thought was an applicable movie title........

Jeff "Skunk" Baxter was/is an AWESOME guitar player....
Didja know that not only was he a founding member of the Doobie Brothers....
He also played inna band with Jimi Hendrix.... and was a founding member of Steely Dan....
and later became a "consultant" to the Department of Defense....

What year did you go to DC? I went my Senior Year on a Bi-Centennial tour. Only time I've ever been. Would love to go back. All educational though - no Doobies.
I did get to see them in a small venue in Phoenix in Oct. 2006. Excellent concert!

I've been to DC several times. First as an 8th grader ( we lived in Virginia; the "big" field trip for 8th grade was DC; 7th graders went to Richmond & Williamsburg ) in early 1973. Loved it, got addicted to the place.
Then in 11th grade ( around January of 1976 ---- maybe our paths crossed ), our FBLA ( Future Business Leaders of America ) club went to Baltimore ( to see Social Security HQ, among other sites ) and DC. Got to see the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum ( still a favorite ) and ride the subway tram underneath the Capitol.
Returned during the summer of 1981 as a college graduation present. Got to stay for almost 3 weeks this time ( stayed with the family of a HS friend who lived in Northern Virginia ), as opposed to a really looong day for each field trip.
This was the trip I associate with "Black Water," because of a guy I met through a friend. We discussed music, among many other topics........
I made good use of the Metro, explored to my heart's content for days on end, and had a blast !!
Also got to spend several days there one summer in the early 1990's and haven't been back since. I seriously need to return.
Have never seen the Doobie Brothers, though. Would have loved to, especially the 1980's incarnation.
