OK, now a quick update on all the rumors of me leaving WFAA. To be brief ... last April I informed WFAA that working 7 days a week (5 at El Centro and 2 at WFAA) plus going to school was no longer a viable option. Sadly, I am not 22 anymore. I said I regretfully had to leave on June 1, the day my contract with Channel 8 expired.
They asked if I would stay on at least one day a week (i.e., Sunday), and I agreed. That gave WFAA enough time to find my eventual replacement, and so my last on-air day will be August 18. But ... I will still be active on WFAA's website and social media, so I will continue to have a presence at Channel 8 even though I will be plunging headlong into my academic career working towards my PhD.
Oh, I should have done this years ago while I was still in Amarillo!!
So yes, I am staying in north Texas; it will just be a little harder to see me.
