I know, I know, "if you win they will come", but Guys it may not be that simple anymore. There is a lot of competition out there for those entertainment dollars. It is a very serious issue at this point. They still are not getting much attention from the media, etc.
They finally have a winner in Tampa, and they only drew 16,000 last night for a game against the Yankees.
Watch out for those Rays. They have one of the most exciting young teams in baseball. The one/two punch of Kazmir/Shields is as good as any.

I'd be wary of Hargrove. When he walked away from the Mariners (wasn't it less than a year ago?) he said that he'd lost the passion. We don't need another Eddie Stanky situation here.
If the entire coaching staff is to be fired, then why does Jaramillo deserve protection? Clutch hitting is one of the things that has always plagued this club most. Their RISP hitting is bad every year, along with hitting on the road.
The clutch hitting and walking lately has been extremely good...I think part of that is due to the Milton Bradley factor...his approach at the plate is really cool to watch...I know he can be a nut, but I really like his talent...
Kinsler may finally be becoming the guy I thought he would be...Murphy is a keeper, and Hamilton, well, he's the most exciting player the Rangers have had since Juan Gone first came up (in all his roidness)...

Kinsler is doing good. My only complaint on him is his attitude when he gets called out on strikes.
I wonder how the Rangers will make room for Blalock. Will it be German? Byrd? Or who miraculously goes on the DL?

Hamilton is already better than Gonzales ever thought he was.

Hamilton looks very good but he still has a lot to prove to be rated better than Juan. Gonzalez set the bar pretty darn high. In his glory years (that included TWO MVP awards) Juan AVERAGED 41-127 .298
Hamilton might do that and more but he's only a quarter of the way into his first full season in the big leagues!

| I just hope we can Hang on to Josh and not have to trade him away for financial concerns. It ain't looking good. The team is losing money badly. This Spring has hurt us severely. I Hope we can get the attendance up once school is out.

| April hurt this team. A lot of people gave up. I admit I was down, but that does not affect my attendance. I agree. I hope attendance increases. 18,000 on a Friday night giveaway night is sickening.

But after next year, if he's clean and producing well, Hicks might be wise to sign him up to a six or seven year contract.

| He is currently under control of the Rangers for six more years. Which was one of the very attractive reasons that is rarely mentioned that this trade makes sense.. much more than if he was able to become a FA in two years... as Edison can.. and Will.

I'm thinking they could still sell his contract. Not that Hank would choose to leave. The fact that they have him tied up that long makes the contract more valuable. Hopefully they won't, but if they get big enough numbers thrown at them, who knows, it has sure happened before. Hicks is a hard nosed businessman, if it comes down to borrowing money to meet payroll and operating, or sell a players contract??? well you now? I do not want that to happen. I am not trying to be negative, I just look at things from a business point of view usually. I'm just saying he might take Steinbrenners call. That is exactly what happened to Babe Ruth. 100 years later folks are still mad about it.
Let's hope it doesn't happen. A few months of 30K plus crowds would sure help.

Josh. My mistake. I was thinking Josh and typed Hank. Hank has been on my mind this morning. Thanks for the catch.
This one eyed typing is going to take some getting used to.

Babe Ruth was sold not because the Red Sox were in financial trouble but because the owner, Harry Frazee, was a NY Broadway producer who needed the money to produce some more plays. One of those plays turned out to be "No No, Nanette" which was a huge hit for Frazee.

If they were both on the team today (Juan in his prime), which one would you choose to keep?
I'd take Hamilton.
