| I did. Cousin left me about $15,000. If the family had not been so large, wooo, I'd have had a bundle! (He left all his money to his cousins. I was a second cousin to him. I think there were 33 of us who split the money.) He was old enough to have been my father. I saw him twice in my life. He lived in NJ. He and his wife had no children so...........

My mother's uncle made a fortune in the East Texas oil fields. When he died he left the family nothing - gave it all to Texas A&M.
Never went to school there - but obviously Aggie material.
Ever heard of Lechner Hall? That's him.

My Dads great aunt became an oil Baroness when the oil fields came on in Oklahoma. Long story but she became very very wealthy back then. One of Oklahoma's first women millionaires. Left it all to her two daughters. One daughter blew it all the other had no kids, was widowed early and gave it all away when she died. Nothing really good ever came from all of the money, nothing permanent. Sad
But most of my relatives, close to me, were just ordinary people who made through this life okay and didn't leave much behind.

| My brother got a call about 20 years ago from a lawyer in Los Angeles. It seemed that they were attempting to convert all the Gulf Oil stock to Chevron and were tying up a few loose ends. One of those loose ends was some Gulf Oil stock our grandfather had owned. It was a nice amount, but after the lawyers took their cut I think all we got was $30 and a new suit.

| Wait, I forgot something. I DID inherit a fairly large bar tab from Bubba once.

my Dad had an uncle who left his assets to a charitable trust and the other half to his nieces and nephews. Over about a five year period he ended up with about 13,000 out of it.

Yes, my father's mother left my sister and me her house. We had no idea she did that until after she passed away. We sold it and split the cash and then bought a much smaller house for our mother to live in.
It was a nice surprise and unexpected. I assumed my father would inherit the entire estate.
