I thought Hancock would take a so called hero story arc similar to Lee Marvin's astounding performance in Cat Ballou.

I'm glad I went to see Hancock and thought parts of it were really good ... but 10 years from now I won't remember Hancock ... I figure I'll still remember Kid Shelleen!!!

I just read Cogill's review of Batman. I think he's right on target.

All the other movie badmen should move in an orderly procession to the back of the bus.

Edited to ask: Is the Dark Knight the best Batman movie ever???
ya get a temporary 'get out of liberal la la land pass' for reference to Cat Ballou and Lee Marvin....total greatness:smile:

Yes!! Super, super movie!! You remember this with Jackson Two Bears:

Jackson's just got a mean, stubborn streak in him, is all.
I brought Mr. Bernstein, the telegraph operator, out here last month.
And he stood right here...
...and spoke Hebrew at Jackson for ten minutes by my watch.
And Jackson pretended he didn't understand a word.
Now I call that stubborn!
I didn't understand a word!
You see what I mean?

We are going to see it at the studio movie grill this afternoon. Wife and I have never been to studio movie grill but hear great things about it.

I am stoked about batman. I hope I have not built it up so much that I am in for disappointment. My expectations are way high.

I like Bale, and he was a good choice...but for some reason I am still preferring Keaton. And I have no idea why. Maybe that will change after I see Dark Knight.

a couple of my friends who have seen it really liked it, but both of them said it wasn't just a 'dark' movie, it was really really dark and intense. both said it should have been rated R so kids wouldn't be able to go see it. They liked it but were kind of blown away with it as to how evil the joker was. But again they liked it a lot.

Just got back..... AWESOME MOVIE!!!

All the talk is about how Ledger should get an Oscar, I think BAle did an awesome job too.  This one was greatness.

I don't get all the "dark" talk though.  Yes, it was violent but there was not one drop of blood.  Evil villian?  Yes, but there have been tons of movies like this.

BTW... I thought the message was spot on.

10 thumbs up in our group!

Excellent. Do not like the direction they've taken the relationship between Batman and law enforcement. Seems contrary to the comic books.

I was amazed about the lack of blood and foul language!!  Seriously.  But I've told all my friends NOT to take their kids. It's not a kids movie.

Kent, my guys agreed about the message...Batman is the true hero, a silent hero....doesn't want any recognition--he just wants to do his job.  The relationship between batman and the joker will always be there -- they play on each other.  It's still good vs. evil and batman will not be pushed away from his beliefs.  No matter what. He proved that when he had the opportunity to fix a problem and didn't. (won't say what it was for those that haven't seent he movie!!)

That's the theory in a Wall Street Journal story today by novelist Andrew Klavan as he explores the issue of morality and how The Dark Knight exemplifies Bush's war on terror. Here's part of what he says:

"And like W, Batman understands that there is no moral equivalence between a free society -- in which people sometimes make the wrong choices -- and a criminal sect bent on destruction. The former must be cherished even in its moments of folly; the latter must be hounded to the gates of Hell.

"The Dark Knight, then, is a conservative movie about the war on terror. ..."

I think Dark Knight is the best movie I saw this year. I really liked Ledger's performance he deserves an Oscar, but since the role was not very Pc he probably won't get one.
