How did we get from the way people dress to this analogy?????

Unfortunately, it's not too far of a stretch. We had a group of excellent teachers who came from a FW school that was a good school, but brought in poor leadership who let standards go. Within two years, kids were literally having sex in the hallway. We got five master teachers from that school in two years (they have all since retired).

I wasn't trying to tear down every one.  I was trying to make a comment about our society in general.  We used to have more social mores and social standards than we now have.  I just felt like the transition has not been complimentary to our society.  Does a persons clothes make the person, no a person makes the clothes.  But I do feel that we can tell a lot about people by the clothes they CHOOSE to wear.  I am not talking about people who do not have a choice.

How we chose to look  effects how we act.  And the way we act reflects in our social interactions.  It always has and it always will.  Put some one in a designer dress in Walmart and see what happens.  Put some one in baggy soiled clothes in Nordstroms and see how they act.  Then switch stores with these people and you will see a change.

I just find that people in general have less respect for those around them then they used to.  They complain more, they demand more, and they act like they are privileged more than they used to.  There has been a huge change in our social interaction in the last few decades.  It will continue changing and usually goes in cycles.  I just  don't care for this cycle. but at the same time I don't like the up part of the other cycle either.  I am not for extremes either way.

I didn't mean to make any one so upset, but I feel we have fallen a long way in society as to social interaction.  It is all aobut WHAT I WANT and not what is good for US in society. The I has over taken the US.    Just take a look and LISTEN to what goes on every day.  ENough posts about this from me.  I am through.

Used to be that women had more modesty and decorum. Now they flaunt it all and we say "Yeah... way to go! Exercise your rights!"

Gotta disagree with you there.

that girl who was asked to cover up ..the one showing a bit of cleavage was dressed more modestly than Dolly Madison. I see nothing wrong with a woman showing cleavage..in fact I enjoy it..the new puritanical styles employed by some women in the Midwest leaves much to be desired..in fact I find much of it and the attitude behind it quite revolting.

I'm not talking about tube tops and 300 Lb women here but if a woman does have the body to go along with the fashion then she should feel free to wear it..its about time things swung back toward more of a feminine sexuality and away from Mormon puritanical garments
snide comment there Chronos,  very snide.    My comments had nothing to do with this at all.  I am talking about our loss of self respect and how we look out in public.  Yes your comment was out of line.

too bad so sad..if you dress your women like the FLDS then that is your business..I dont care for it and will say so ..snide or not

Nice comment. You wanna run that "your women" line past Marie Osmond?

Sort of the intellectual equivalent of showing your boxers. Very fashionable. In both cases, it shows your rear. Snide, or not.

Lots of different ways of living only for yourself.

get ahold of yourself..you seem to be letting your emotions overcome you

Now THAT'S funny.

Nope. I just have a problem with people who ought to apologize and won't. Better my emotions than pride.
