Baby born three weeks early weighs in at 13 poundsa newborn who broke the size record for infants delivered at Texas Health Harris Methodist Southwest in Fort Worth. The kid — named Justice — joined the ranks of the living-breathing weighing in at 13 pounds, and wowza, hope mom’s OK. It likely comes as no surprise that the delivery occurred via C-section.
The weight becomes even more attention grabbing when one considers the fact that the baby was born three weeks before his due date. Imagine how big that little sucker [hehe] might have been after waiting full-term to get welcomed to the world.

I think Mom and dr. miscalculated........13 lbs and a full head of hair does not equal a preemie in my experience.........

I have heard that is sometimes a reason for large birth weight/size.

My wife , a dibetic, delivered a 12lb, 4 oz baby at Arlington Memorial hospital. I don't know if any one has broken that record or not, and that was 36 yrs ago.
Last son was 4-5 weeks premature and weighed 9lbs 14 oz, he would have been almost 14 lbs said the Dr, if he had gone full term. He almost died being a premie.

Just googled to see if anyone was talking about this and your forum popped up. The mother is a close friend of mine...there were NO miscalculations...it was a very high risk pregnancy and tons of tests and sonograms throughout...in fact amnio was done theday before delivery to check to see if his lungs were developed enough. Barely made the numbers.....he was 3.5 weeks early. Dr said he would have been over 17 lbs if he went to term. He also was just shy of 24 inches in length. The mom does have diabetes, hopefully the baby does not. So far, so good. They had figured him to be about 8.5 lbs...but he was so cramped tight they didnt get accurate measurements. He is precious and a blessing from God....love him to pieces already :)
