I just heard on WBAP radio this morning a report that people who wear an ice cold cap while getting the chemo tended to keep their hair. The supposition is that the cold causes the hair follicles to constrict and hold onto that hair. It might be worth investigating. Good luck and prayers for you.

WOW. I don't know what to say other than a simple thank you! Your kind words, prayers, and support mean so much to me.
I am doing quite well. Still doing chemo until the end of December, but I have finished the most aggressive and toxic drugs. Thank goodness. Should start radiation in January for about 6 weeks. I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and the small tumor was removed June 17. Dr said they got clear margins, but since it had spread to some lymph nodes, I have to do the whole regimen including chemo to make sure it didn't go anywhere else. However, all my scans and tests were clear. This was found on my routine mammogram, so PLEASE, Ladies, GET YOUR YEARLY MAMMOGRAM!! It could have been much worse if I had waited.
Again, thanks everyone. And I would like to add that chemo really sucks! But hopefully it is worth it.

Wish I had heard this before the hair fell out. It's sometimes SO cold at the oncology center, I'm not sure I could have handled having an ice cold cap on my head. LOL

Helen, if you like, we can gather the members of the Dallas Digest Street Choir and Shuck 'n Jive Marching Band to come do a performance. Most of 'em are out on bail right now.

Pie for strength! And perhaps some cheerful singer-songwriter music. No folk music though...too depressing.
Sending lots of positive energy. Hopefully the chemo doesn't make the wine taste bad.

Sounds like you're doing great, Helen! I'd love to connect with you in April at the Komen Race for the Cure here in FW. It's going to be at Ridgmar Mall this year instead of downtown. It shouldn't be too hard for you to get there from Granbury. Let's talk, OK???

Sounds great to me! I will be finished with the treatments by then and may even have some hair back. Easy to get to Ridgmar from here, but you may have to remind me. I also should be retired from my job by then. Woo Hoo!!!
