Possible lone gunman at Texas A&M Texas A&M University has issued a lockdown on its main campus, warning students of a suspected gunman on campus. University spokesman Lane Stephenson says a campus bus driver was on his route around 4 p.m. Thursday when he reported seeing an individual carrying a weapon, possibly a rifle, near the student union. Details to come.

A&M issues Code Maroon for person spotted with gun UPDATE: Officials have not located the possible gunman, but are urging people on campus to continue seeking shelters. Multiple law enforcement agencies are on campus and a helicopter is monitoring campus from the air.
Texas A&M University police said Thursday there are reports of a gunman on campus.
Students are asked to shelter in place and avoid Rudder Tower, which has been shut down after someone was spotted with a gun there at 4 p.m.
Police said the person was described is a white man with green shorts and a dark-colored T-shirt and a backpack. Officials said the suspect was reported carrying a AK-47-style weapon.
Authorities said they have units responding to the area from Bryan and College Station.
More information as it comes in.

Nothing to worry about. We have laws preventing the person lawfully carrying his long gun from shooting people or going inside the buildings.

CAMPUS ALERT CANCELED AT TEXAS A&M
KUT News
Fake gun prompts “shelter in place” alert at A&M campus in College Station.
A scare at Texas A&M University this afternoon after a bus driver called police and reported what he thought was a gunman carrying an AK-47-like weapon.
A&M campus police issued an alert and instructed students to "shelter in place". Uncertainty swirled for about an hour, as police searched for the reported 'gunman'. Adding to the concern was a scheduled ribbon cutting involving Fmr. President Bush Sr., his wife and daughter-in-law.
Turns out the student was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets carrying a replica weapon.
Texas A&M Police tell KUT News they are investigating, adding that it's not necessarily against the law to carry a replica weapon on campus.
Police are telling people to return to their normal activities

Of course you can. You cannot carry into a building or portion of a building, but parking lots, driveways, streets, parking garages, sidewalks, etc., are all perfectly legal.

When his son, Billy Jr, went to college, he went to Texas A&M. They were the only school that would take his daddy's money.
