Art (aka Johnson on the Digest) and his family are my hero of the week.
I receive emails and facebook notifications about animals needing a home almost daily. The one below I kind of knew the history on this one. Anyway I hit the share button on my facebook to give her just a little bit more exposure.
And Art saw her story and felt she would fit into their home. It is my understanding that she is with his family this evening.
Thanks Art for making my week.
Nothing endures but CHANGE, right??? Ever felt that "fear of the unknown" that sometimes accompanies changes in our lives? That nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach when life deals you a bit of uncertainty? It's my guess that's what Calamity must be feeling right about now. Calamity is the last of Dr. Joyce Robinson's beloved pets to embark on a new life... and at the ripe old age of about 7 years old, that's pretty scary!! Calamity belonged to Dr. Robinson, a respected Corsicana area Veterinarian who lost her battle with cancer in December of 2008. Along with the rest of the Robinson pets, through a series of events and by no fault of their own, Calamity has found herself "owner-less", for lack of a better term. Still reeling from the loss of her original owner, Calamity is losing her current caregiver and the only home she's ever known. Over the past month, one by one, Calamity has bid farewell to her entire animal family at the house/vet clinic/farm that she calls home. Her caregiver, the horses, the dogs - all part of her daily life are now gone. Calamity is all that remains of what once was a busy & bustling place to be. I wonder what she must be thinking? Oh sure, we could take her to the shelter.... but how many adopters are looking for a 7 year old cat??? Sadly, Calamity's chances for adoption from a shelter would be slim. With all the adorable little kittens in surrounding cages, entertaining guests with their amusing antics, the older cats unfortunately seem to pale in comparison. Even the most well meaning adopter can be innocently swayed into taking the tiny kitten instead of the more subdued adult cat simply based on the "cuteness factor". We don't want Calamity to face possible euthanasia in a shelter because of shelter overcrowding or simply because her time ran out. Calamity worked side by side in the clinic with Dr. Robinson for years. Why she can practically do a spay/neuter surgery with her eyes closed!! Calamity isn't exactly a lap cat, but she does enjoy your company and she loves to be petted. She's very low maintenance and a bit aloof at times, but she's been well cared for. She's current on her vaccinations, spayed and completely healthy. She's accustomed to being inside AND outside, living both inside the house and the vet clinic for years. She came and went as she pleased. Often you'd find her greeting patients as they entered the clinic or lounging out in the side yard doing a little bird watching. She's been a permanent fixture there for years, but things are different now and Calamity must move on. If you think your home might be ideal for Calamity, please contact Project Pawz at (903) xxx-xxxx or via e-mail at
And remember, if taken care of properly cats can live for up to 20 years. Miss Calamity still has lots of livin' to do!! If you know of someone looking for a great cat to adopt or if you know of someone that might be willing to foster Calamity, please forward her information on. This sweet girl is currently having to live outside full time, and cooler weather will soon be upon us. She'll need a warm place to sleep very soon

Calamity is doing fine. Spending lots of time hiding under the bed, but she'll get used to the natives.
