fact: wade phillips will not be here next year.
fact: jerry won't/can't/shouldn't hire the new coach in the middle of the season.
fact: none of the coaches on the current staff deserve an interim shot.
solution: jerry fires wade now & takes over the head-coach job on the sidelines for the rest of the year.
why? because he's always dreamed of doing it and he's got nothing to lose---except his ego when the team goes 1-15.

I think he should have a drawing each week. Winner gets to coach the Cowboys.

It is about time for any and all Cowboys fans to conclude that the Dallas Cowboys will never amount to anything in the NFL as long as Jerry is the owner.
Got that figured out.
Next thing to realize is that Jerry doesn't really care if they win or loose, as long as he keeps pulling in the cash he is pulling in.

How does a possible lock-out affect Dallas Cowboys' management decisions at this point?

Potential work stoppage next year looming. No reason to get locked into a new coach at this point.

I thought JJ was already handling this job and just letting Wade be the figurehead coach.

It has to be killing him to be #2 in the local sports reporting, he's never taken a backseat to anyone. I won't be surprised if he fires Wade just to get the headlines back from the Rangers.

Just keep him away from the cheer leaders.

I had thought the same thing.
I liked that he had Nolan at the game last night, and hope he does something special at the Death Star when the Rangers win the World Series, but you know somewhere deep inside it pisses him off.

I know of four cases where oilmen owned NFL teams. Three were Jerry Jones, Bud Adams (who invented the oilfield to hear him tell it), and John Mecom. They were in it for the money and the publicity. The fourth was Clint Murchison, who managed to do it right.

Five, if you count Lamar Hunt, but he inherited his oil holdings. I don't recall that he did much himself in the oil biz.

I get such a kick out of people who think they have Jerry all figured out. I've known the guy as long as anyone in this market, and most of them are way off.
First of all, how much money Jerry makes has never been a priority for him. It just isn't. Winning is, and he'll go into debt to do it. He's a wildcatter.
Second, Jerry absolutely does not mind sharing the spotlight with the Rangers. His view is that four succesful franchises make this a year-round destination for tourists, fans, and potential customers. Of course he'd like to be lead dog, but he also lives in the land of What Is. And he knows if you stay at something long enough, your time will come around again.
Crazy as it sounds, Jerry taking the reigns is not all that far fetched. I can promise you he was so un-nerved by what he saw the other night that he was probably down in the locker-room getting sized for pads. Ever known a 65-year-old man who really in his heart thought he could still pop leather? I give you Jerry. The reason he won't ever be coach or the Cowboys' version of Rudy is because his various corprate boards and shareholders would have small kittens. The guy has alot of other interests. He'd do it, but no one will let him.
Now, the following is a guess on my part - but I'm comfortable making it. Jerry goes all-in, all the time. I think he's way further into that venue than anyone knows. The object wasn't just building a great stadium. He wanted the world's greatest stadium - to house the passion of his life, long after his life was over. That's why all the African Cherry in the locker-room had to be taken out and replaced - so the grain would all flow vertically. Yes, taxpayers kicked in a huge chunk - but Jerry poured cash into it as well. Alot of that was personal, but plenty of it was leveraged - and my fear is that he's not far from a Hicks situation. Jones lost plenty of money in '08, same as alot of people in his strata. I was with Boone Pickens the morning the guy saw about $1 billion disappear, and Jones played at the same tables. If he can't sell tickets or jerseys, his pile of chips gets smaller - real fast. They kind of joked about that last year, but I don't hear many chuckles now. You can see it in his face.

And about as many cheerleader candidates as he could.
