I office out of my home, and it is in an upstairs room. We are about 7 miles as the crow flies from Alliance Airport. This weekend is the Alliance Air Show and the Blue Angles just arrived in their diamond formation. What a sight!
5 and 7 arrived yesterday and 7 was giving press rides all day. (about the only time I envy the media)
We are going Saturday. In addition to the Blue Angles, the F-22 demo team will be flying. This will be my first live look at the Raptor flying.
Lots of other demos as well. Look for pics and videos Sunday.

My first Blue Angels show was in the fall of 79'.....
Pensacola NAS is their 'Home Base' and they apparently always finish off their "season".... (at least back then) with a big ol' air show on base......
Complete other military aircraft..... including a coupla bombing runs.... First time I'd seen a Harrier up close and personal also....
Me and a coupla other jarheads climbed up on top of a Coca-Cola tractor trailer rig and had a great view....
Very, very cool......

I saw them first in the mid 70s when they just started flying the A-4. That was the greatest airshow......Saw the Golden Knights do a high altitude show (they were at Alliance the past two years, but a low ceiling required them to jump from low altitude and pull the chutes as soon as they were out. This year we should get to see the high altitude show), saw an Army Helicopter team demo that just rocked.
Then in the late '80s I sw an Air Show in Corpus with the Angles, and saw the JATO with Fat Albert. I thought that C-130 was going to fall out of the sky on takeoff.
This show will also have the F-16 East Coast Demo Team (not the Thunderbirds), and a bunch of other cool flights. The static displays should be good too.
I have never been to one with a simulated bombing run with pyrotechnics, would love to see that.

our "good camera" apparently just died yesterday. :( I might have to run out and pick up an at least temporary replacement at lunch so we can have some pics of the boys at the air show.

Growing up down in Corpus, we were only about 20 minutes away from the base down there. We watched the planes all the time, but when the Air Show came to town was always very cool. We lived in a big two story house with a really flat roof, so everyday after school while they were practicing all my neighborhood friends and Dad's would come over and we would all get up on the roof and watch them practice. We did that every year as along as I can remember until we moved to Dallas. Always loved the air show.

Anyone else going tomorrow? We'll be there at gates open to maximize our time there. Our boys both nap so 3 maybe the latest we can push it.

We'll be there before the gates open. The Angles should fly between 3 and 4 and they are worth the wait.
